காலந்தக மூர்த்தி

Kaalantaka Murthy (காலந்தக மூர்த்தி) is a form of Lord Shiva associated with the destruction of time and the annihilation of negative forces. The term "Kaalantaka" combines "Kaala" (which means "time") and "Antaka" (which means "destroyer" or "end"). Therefore, Kaalantaka Murthy signifies Shiva as the destroyer of time and the ultimate force against the negative aspects of existence.

காலந்தக மூர்த்தி

மிருகண்டு முனிவர் என்பவர் மருத்துவதி என்னும் பெண்ணைத் திருமணம் செய்தார். ஆண்டுகள் பலவாகியும் குழந்தையில்லாத காரணத்தால் மிருகண்டு காசி சென்று குழந்தை வேண்டி தவமியற்றத் துவங்கினார். தவத்திற்கு மெச்சி சிவபெருமான் காட்சிக் கொடுத்து என்ன வேண்டும் என்றுக் கேட்டார். குழந்தை வேண்டுமென்றதும் முனிவரே தீயகுணம், உடல் நோய், ஐம்பொறி ஊனம், அறிவின்மை இவற்றுடன் நூறாண்டு வாழும் பிள்ளை வேண்டுமா? அல்லது அழகு, அறிவு, நோயின்மை, எம்மருள் கொண்ட பதினாறு வயது வரை ஆயுள் கொண்ட பிள்ளை வேண்டுமா என கேட்க முனிவரோ பதினாறு வயது வரை ஆயுள் கொண்ட பிள்ளையே வேண்டுமென்றார். உடன் வரம் கொடுத்து மறைந்தார். பின் சிறிது நாளில் ஒரு நல்ல சுபமுகூர்த்த தினத்தில் மருத்துவதி அழகான பிள்ளையைப் பெற்றெடுத்தார். தேவர்கள் பூமாரி பொழிந்து, தேவதுந்துபி இசைத்து வரவேற்றனர். நான்முகன் அக்குழந்தைக்கு மார்க்கண்டேயன் என்று பெயரிட்டார்.

மார்க்கண்டேயன் நாளொறு மேனியும் பொழுதொரு வண்ணமாக வளரத்துவங்கினான். தான் வளர வளர பெற்றோர் ஆனந்தப்படாமல் வருத்தப்பட்டுக் கொண்டுள்ளார்களே என்னக்காரணம் என்றுக் கேட்க. பெற்றோர்களும் அவனது வரத்தைப் பற்றிக் கூறினர். மார்க்கண்டேயன் பெற்றோரை சமாதனம் செய்து தாம் பூரண ஆயுளுடன் இருக்க சிவபெருமானை நோக்கி தவமிருந்து வெற்றியுடன் திரும்புவதாககக்க கூறி காசி சென்றார். அங்கு மணிகர்ணிகையருகே ஒரு சிவலிங்கத்தைப் பூஜித்து வந்தார். சிவபெருமான் அவரது பூஜைக்கு மகிழ்ந்து எமபயம் நீங்குக என்று வரமளித்தார். பின் ஊர் திரும்பினார்.

அங்கும் வழிபாட்டைத் தொடர்ந்தார். இவ்வாறிருக்கும் போது அவனது ஆயுள் முடிவடையும் சமயத்தில் எமதூதன் அழைத்தான். பூஜை பலனால் எமதூதனால் அருகே நெருங்கக்கூட முடியவில்லை. பின்னர் சித்ரகுப்தனும், எமனது மந்திரியான காலனையும் அனுப்பினான். ஆனால் மார்க்கண்டேயனை அசைக்க கூட முடியவில்லை முடிவாக எமனே வர மார்க்கண்டேயன் சிவலிங்கத்தை தழுவிக் கொண்டான். உடன் சிவபெருமான் தோன்றி எமனை இடக்காலால் எட்டி உதைத்தார். இதனால் எமன் இறந்தான். உடன் பூமியில் மரணம் நிகழாததால் பூமியின் எடைக் கூடிக் கொண்டே சென்றது. பாரம் தாங்காத பூமாதேவி சிவபெருமானை வேண்டினார். உடன் எமன் உயிர்த்தெழுந்தான் மிருகண்டு மகனான மார்க்கண்டேயனுக்கு நித்ய சிரஞ்சீவியார்க்கி என்றும் பதினாறு என்று வரமளித்தார்.

மார்க்கண்டேயனுக்காக சிவபெருமான் எமனை உதைத்த கோலமே காலந்தக மூர்த்தி யாகும். அவரை வணங்க நாம் சொல்ல வேண்டிய தலம் திருக்கடவூர் ஆகும். இத்தலம் மாயவரம் அருகேயுள்ளது. எமபயம் நீங்க இத்தல இறைவனை வணங்க வேண்டும். ரிஷிகள், முனிவர்கள், சித்தர்கள் என அனைவரும் எமபயம் நீங்க இங்குள்ள இறைவனை தினமும் வழிபடுவதாக ஐதீகம். இங்கு அறுபது வயதைக் கடந்தோர் சஷ்டியப்த பூர்த்தி விழாவினை இங்கு வந்துக் கொண்டாடுகின்றனர். செந்தாமரை மலர் அர்ச்சனையும், தேங்காய், மஞ்சள், பூ நைவேத்தியமும் வெள்ளிக்கிழமைகளில் கொடுக்க ஆயுள் அதிகரிக்கும். எமபயம் நீங்கும்.
